Rent and manage your numbers
Rent a business phone number from WA.cr, see exactly what you'll pay, watch each number's calls, and release a number when you're done.
You can rent a business phone number from WA.cr in a couple of minutes — to connect WhatsApp, and to answer real calls.
Steps
- Your first number is usually rented while connecting WhatsApp — in the connect flow, choose to rent a number from WA.cr. For more numbers, open Numbers under Voice and choose Rent a number.
- Pick a country and search — by digits the number contains, starts with or ends with.
- The checkout shows the exact amount before you confirm: any one-time setup cost, rent up to your plan's renewal date, and GST as its own line. You're never charged an amount you didn't see — if it changes while you're deciding, the checkout asks you again.
- Pay from your wallet — top up right in the checkout if you're short. On monthly billing it goes on your bill instead.
- The number starts by forwarding WhatsApp's verification call to your mobile. Once that's done, choose how it should answer — a call menu, or an AI voice agent.
What the rent covers
Rent is paid up front and lines up with your plan: the first charge covers up to your plan's renewal date, and after that the rent renews together with the plan — on a yearly plan, a year of rent at a time.
Rent you've already paid isn't refunded if you release the number early — the release screen reminds you before you confirm.
What calls cost
- Calls are charged per minute, in both directions, at your caller's country's rate — rounded up to the minute, with a one-minute minimum, GST on top, from your wallet. They appear as a Voice calls line on your bill.
- Unanswered forwarded calls are free.
- Agent time is a separate per-minute line — see Put an AI voice agent on a number.
- Recorded calls are transcribed only when your transcription setting is Automatic. Transcription is charged per use within a monthly allowance, and calls longer than two hours aren't transcribed.
Whether WA.cr records calls on a line is your choice, and it starts switched off. When you turn it on, callers are told before recording begins, and recordings are stored in India.
Keeping an eye on a number
The Numbers page shows each number on its own card: whether calling is on, the week's calls — in, out and missed — and quick ways into the number's Call log and Call menu. Behind the details you'll find the monthly price, the renewal date, and Verification forwarding with its "used 2 of 5" allowance.
Removing a line is not releasing the number
Removing a voice line from your channels stops it answering — but the number is still yours, and the rent still applies — until you release the number from the Numbers page. Releasing returns the number and stops the rent, with no refund for time already paid.
If it doesn't work
- The search finds nothing — try another country or a looser pattern; more countries are on the way.
- The rent is refused for balance — top up in the checkout and confirm again.
- The amount changed at confirm — your plan's period rolled over while you were deciding; approve the fresh quote.
