Close your workspace
Close a workspace you no longer need, and restore it within 14 days if you change your mind.
Closing a workspace stops everything in it straight away, and you have 14 days to restore it before it is deleted. Nothing is lost until the deletion date, so you can change your mind.
This option is rolling out gradually. If you don't see Close workspace yet, write to support and we will help you close it.
Who can close a workspace
Any owner of the workspace can close it. You must be signed in as yourself. If the workspace has more than one owner, any of them can close it, and any of them can restore it.
Before you close
Some things must be settled first. The close screen lists anything still open, with a link to fix it.
- A balance below zero. Top up your wallet to at least zero.
- Unpaid bills. Pay them from Billing.
- Rented numbers with rent due. Pay the rent or release the number from Numbers.
- Message charges still waiting to be paid. Top up your wallet so they go through.
If your workspace is billed after use, write to support. We will settle the last bill and close it for you.
If a Partner manages your workspace, ask your Partner.
Steps
- Open Settings, then General.
- Scroll to Danger zone and choose Close workspace.
- Read what will stop, your deletion date and your balance.
- Tick the box to confirm you understand what happens to your balance.
- Choose Send code to my WhatsApp.
- Enter the 6-digit code we send to your WhatsApp number.
- Choose Close workspace.
If your balance changes before you finish, we show you the new amount. Confirm it again. Your code still works.
What closing does
- Your teammates lose access. They see a page saying the workspace is closed.
- Every channel stops sending and receiving messages and calls.
- Your storefront, forms, booking pages and short links stop working.
- Your plan, add-ons and numbers set to renew stop renewing at the end of the period you have paid for.
- Auto-recharge is switched off.
- Every owner gets an email.
Your balance
Your wallet balance is kept, frozen, while the workspace is closed. At deletion it is given up and is not refunded. The same applies to any payment that arrives after you close.
Restore your workspace
You can restore it until the deletion date, 14 days after you close it.
- Open the workspace from your list of businesses. It is marked Closed.
- Check the dates on the page.
- Choose Restore workspace.
Your channels come back without reconnecting. If any channel needs reconnecting, the page tells you how many. Reconnect them from Channels.
What does not come back on its own
- Renewals. Your plan, add-ons and numbers stay set not to renew. Switch them back on in Billing.
- Auto-recharge. It stays off. Switch it back on in Billing.
- Messages that were due while it was closed. Scheduled messages and broadcasts that fell due are cancelled, not sent late. Ones scheduled for later still go out.
Delete immediately
On the close screen you can tick Delete immediately instead of in 14 days. There is no restore window then. Your workspace can't be restored, so only choose this if you are sure.
If it doesn't work
- If you don't see Close workspace, check that you are an owner. The option may also not be switched on for your workspace yet.
- If your account has no WhatsApp number for the code, write to support and we will close it for you.
- If the code doesn't work, request a new one and try again.
- If you see "Too many code requests", wait a few minutes and try again.
- If Restore says the close is still finishing, try again in a minute.
