End a call that is still running
A call dialled by mistake used to ring out for the carrier's full timeout, and one left open on a desk kept billing. You can now stop a live call from the call history.
Released 17 August 2026
You could start a call from the console but never stop one. A number dialled wrong rang out for however long the carrier allowed, and a call somebody walked away from kept billing until whoever placed it hung up their own handset.
What's new
- A call that is ringing or connected now has an End call button in the line's call history.
- Pressing it stops the call straight away. There is no "are you sure?" step — you are watching a live call you want stopped, and the extra click costs more billed seconds than a mistake does.
- If the other person hangs up at the same moment, that counts as done rather than as an error.
Worth knowing
- Ending a call does not make it free. You pay for the minutes it actually ran, exactly as if the other person had hung up. Stopping it early makes it shorter — that is the saving.
- The button appears only where it will work. Some lines run on a carrier we cannot ask to stop a call. Those lines show no button at all, rather than one that would quietly fail.
- It takes the same permission as managing the line, not the lower one that lets a teammate read the call log. Every call ended this way is recorded in your audit trail, with who stopped it and what the call was doing at the time.
