Choose whether an email mailbox only sends, or sends and receives
Connect a mailbox just for sending — no inbox settings needed — or keep it sending and receiving, and switch at any time from the channel's settings.
Released 2 October 2026
An email channel can now be set to Sending only or Sending and receiving, so a sending-only address no longer has to fill in inbox settings it doesn't have.
What's new
- Sending only. Connect with just your outgoing (SMTP) server, or the send permission of a Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 mailbox. Nothing is read from the mailbox, so no incoming server is needed.
- Sending and receiving. As before: email goes out, and replies land in your inbox as conversations. This stays the default, and every mailbox you've already connected works exactly as it did.
- Switch any time. Open the email channel's settings and change its direction. When you turn receiving on, WA.cr checks the mailbox first and starts collecting new mail from that moment.
Worth knowing
- Replies to a sending-only mailbox don't arrive in WA.cr, so add a Reply-To address that someone reads.
- Email automations that start when a message is received won't run from a sending-only mailbox, because nothing arrives there.
