WhatsApp's reply pricing changes on 1 October 2026 — you're ready

WhatsApp will start charging for replies (service messages) from 1 October 2026. Your console now shows reply pricing everywhere it shows message pricing, and switches to the new rates automatically on the day.

Released 2 August 2026

WhatsApp has announced that from 1 October 2026 it will charge for reply (service) messages, which have been free until now. We've done the plumbing early so the change happens smoothly — and you can see it coming.

What's changing on WhatsApp's side

  • Replies get a per-message price — from 1 October 2026, messages you send in reply to a customer (by an agent or an automation) are charged by WhatsApp at the same rate as utility messages for your market. WhatsApp publishes the exact rates by 1 September 2026.
  • Utility messages inside the 24-hour reply window also stop being free on the same date.
  • A few countries — including Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Morocco, Kazakhstan and Ukraine — get their own rates instead of a regional rate.

What we've done for you

  • Your wallet estimates include replies — the "≈ messages" readout on your billing page now shows replies alongside marketing, utility and authentication, at today's price and, once published, at the October price.
  • The pricing page shows the change — the public estimator lets you preview October rates next to today's, per country, as soon as they're available.
  • The switch is automatic — nothing to do on the day. Until 30 September replies carry only the small platform fee, exactly as now; from 1 October WhatsApp charges them per message at your market's utility rate, and they're billed through your plan's normal per-message pricing like any other message. Your billing history labels them clearly.
