"2nd and 4th Saturday closed" — said once, not dated for ever

Opening hours could describe a week, and nothing else. A workspace on the "2nd and 4th Saturday off" convention had to add a dated exception for every single Saturday, for ever. Now it is one line.

What's new

• Repeating exceptions. Under Settings → Opening hours there is a new section between the week and Particular dates. A rule picks a weekday and one of two rhythms.
• On chosen weeks of the month. Tick 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th. This is the one people name out loud, and it counts within the calendar month — so it resets each month, exactly as the convention does.
• Every other week. Pick a start date, and the rule takes that day and every second week after it, without ever resetting. Use this when you mean a true fortnight rather than a position in the month.
• The next eight dates, shown under each rule. "Odd Saturday" means different things to different people. The dates settle it before you save, and they are worked out by the same code that decides whether you are open — so what you see is what will happen.

Worth knowing

• A rule replaces that day's usual hours, it never subtracts from them. Tick Closed all day, or give the hours that remain. Either way of saying the Saturday convention works with a single rule: leave Saturday open in the week and close the 2nd and 4th, or leave Saturday closed and open the 1st, 3rd and 5th.
• A particular date still beats a repeating rule, which beats the week. So a Diwali entry closes a Saturday your fortnightly rule had opened, and you never have to touch the rule.
• Two rules cannot fight over the same day. Two rules on one weekday must claim different occurrences, and one weekday cannot mix the two rhythms — otherwise one of them would sit there doing nothing and you would have no way of knowing which. The page says so on the row.
• Your repeating rules are part of the hours other places quote. The sentence at the foot of the page now reads Saturday: 2nd and 4th Closed alongside the week, because a rule that stands every month is something a customer needs told. Particular dates are still left out — they go stale.
• A workspace open only once a month now says when it next opens. It used to look far enough ahead for a weekly pattern only, and a monthly gap read as "this schedule never opens".
