Instagram comments land in your inbox — reply publicly or privately
Comments on your Instagram posts, reels and lives now appear in the commenter's conversation, with one-click public replies and a private reply straight to their DMs.
A comment is often the start of a sale — now it arrives where you already work. Comments on your Instagram posts show up in the commenter's conversation, next to their DMs, ready to answer.
What's new
- Comments arrive in chat — when someone comments on your post, reel or live video, it appears in that person's conversation with a small card showing which post it's on (thumbnail, caption and a link to view it on Instagram).
- Reply publicly — answer from the chat and your reply is posted on Instagram as a nested reply under their comment.
- Reply privately — take the conversation to their DMs. Instagram allows one private reply per comment, within 7 days — the button shows how long you have left, and greys out once used.
- Mentions, if you want them — turn on Mentions in the channel's settings to also pull in comments where your account is @mentioned on someone else's post. It's off by default.
Connected Instagram before today? Open Settings → Channels and reconnect the account once — that grants the new comments permission.
